GlobalData has revealed the thematic framework for the future of work, highlighting the main technologies that are disrupting the process. The framework has 5 categories:

  1. Visualization means using graphics to change the way of seeing work. That includes AR, VR, digital twins, and data visualization.
  2. Automation means using machines to complement human labor by leveraging industrial robots, autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, and robotic process automation (RPA).
  3. Interpretation means using AI to improve decision-making through machine learning, computer vision, context awareness, data science.
  4. Collaboration means using technology to enable teamwork with the help of collaboration tools and customer relationship management.
  5. Connectivity means using networked devices to improve communication. Drones, industrial internet, 5G, wearables are among the major ways of connectivity adoption.

According to the report, companies that develop and adopt the most advanced technologies in each of these categories will emerge as winners.

In fact, fundamental shifts in the structure of the labor market were already well underway before the pandemic. Nevertheless, in the post-COVID-19 world, these changes are likely to gain fresh momentum, making the discourse around the future of work more relevant than ever.

For manufacturers, technology will play an increasingly prominent role in building resilience. As for office work, this will not be the same after COVID-19. Physical spaces will be transformed, and remote working, supported by technology, will become the norm for millions of employees
Laura Petrone, Senior Analyst at GlobalData

We’ve reported that remote work has positively impacted productivity in terms of reducing costs of both employers and employees, lowering traffic and pollution level.
