Supermarket Albert Heijn has entered the top 3 of biggest e-commerce players in the Netherlands. The Ahold-owned company achieved online sales of 565 million euros last year, which is more than Zalando did in the Netherlands. Only Bol.com (also owned by Ahold) and Coolblue had bigger revenues, Ecommerce News reports.

Bol.com is the biggest e-commerce player in the Netherlands for quite some time now. Last year, the online retailer generated revenues worth 1.64 billion euros, although a big part is actually generated by third-party vendors.

This is shown in the annual Twinkle100, a catalog with the 250 biggest e-commerce players in the Netherlands. Number two on the list is omnichannel retailer Coolblue, which sold products with a total worth of 1 billion euros in 2018. Albert Heijn has entered the top 3 for the very first time, leaving popular online retails as Zalando and Wehkamp behind.

Albert Heijn isn’t the only supermarket that has moved up the ranks. Its biggest competitor, Jumbo, is now in 8th place, with online sales worth 265 million euros. Online-only supermarket Picnic, which is growing steadily in Germany as well, is just outside the top 10 of online stores in the Netherlands. The ecommerce player ranks 11th, with 200 million euros in online revenue.

The 250 biggest e-commerce companies in the Netherlands generated total revenues of 11.8 billion euros, which corresponds to about 900 euro per adult. And whereas last year, the number 250 got their place thanks to 5 million euros in sales, this year the player on that position achieved a revenue of 6.1 million euros.
