The manufacturing plant in this country will expand Tesla’s influence on the market
Tesla has recently announced that it will be building its first European-based factory in Berlin, Germany. According to GlobalData, this gives Tesla direct and instant access to the European EV market. Germany is the next biggest electric vehicle market after China. The main reason for that is the country’s strict carbon dioxide (CO2) emission regulations.
European EV production is expected to double from 0.8 million units in 2020 to 1.7 million by 2023, and to reach 5 million by 2034.
By making the manufacturing footprint in Europe, Tesla increases its global market ambitions.
The main reason why Tesla establishes its first European plant in Berlin is that Germany has always been at the heart of Europe’s automotive industry and market. What is more, its established premium brands and indications from the German Government that it will be very supportive in encouraging e-mobility.
